Business Innovation

The Centre for Research & Innovation is committed to helping Industry in the Region.  We are presently working with other agencies to provide assistance to SMEs through the following initiatives:

LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The CRI has partnered with Evergreen Centre for Resource Excellence & Innovation.  The Centre is a site for stakeholders to demonstrate and inspire the development of innovative resources technologies and best practices that contribute to sustainable economic growth and environmental sustainability.

“The Evergreen Centre is an excellent example of organizational innovation. It’s an informal network of people, companies and organizations coming together to solve some important problems. That’s the genius”, says Rutley (Director, CRI)

PEACE COUNTRY UNMANNED VEHICLE SYSTEMS

The PCUVS Partnership was formed in July 2012. Members are the Town of Fairview #136, the Municipal District of Fairview, the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI) and the GPRC School of Trades, Agriculture and Environment.  It is affiliated with the Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicle Systems CCUVS  in Medicine Hat AB.

The mandate of the Peace Country Unmanned Vehicle Systems Partnership is to assist in the development of unmanned systems industry in Northwest Alberta.  Current focus is on potential demonstration projects and business development opportunities, and to inform residents in the region of the potential uses of unmanned vehicle systems (UVS).

The PCUVS Partnership supports the growth of the UVS sector in northwest Alberta through a strategy that would see:

a.      Unmanned Ground System (UGS) development, primary application and training in the region; and

b.      Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) development, with advanced testing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and applications and training within the region.
